Salt Lake City Golf Guide
The website TripAdvisor.com lists 79 attractions in and around Salt Lake City, so travelers to Utah's capital should have no trouble filling their days and nights during their visits. Temple Square is generally considered the symbolic heart of the worldwide Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints, and its six-spired temple is architecturally, historically and religiously significant. The Salt Lake Temple, the LDS Conference Center, the Joseph Smith Memorial Building, the Church History Museum and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir all contribute to the overall vibe of Salt Lake City.
However, as culturally significant as downtown SLC is (a self-guided walking tour of South Temple nicely fills out a beautiful day), the region also has countless acres of outdoor wilderness to be explored by those visitors inclined to expend some energy. To the east of the city is Big Cottonwood Canyon, where hikers-adequately prepared and after having informed someone of their plans-can set out into some of the most gorgeous scenery anywhere. And only two miles north of city center, City Creek Canyon is a great place for a run or a bike ride.
As for golf, locals and visitors can choose from among 19 public courses, a semi-private course and a handful of private courses. Golfers who like links-style golf should try the Johnny Miller-designed Stonebridge Golf Club, in West Valley City, or Wingpointe Golf Course, an Arthur Hills design, in Salt Lake. The Gene Bates-designed Old Mill Golf Club provides plenty of challenges, and Mountain Dell Golf Course debatably serves up the most beautiful public golf holes in the region.
