The golf course architecture firm of Robert Trent Jones II is proud to announce that Chairman and master architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. has been chosen by Golf Inc. to receive its first-ever Lifetime Achievement Award. Just last year, Jones also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asian Pacific Golf Summit for his contributions to the growth of the game in Asia.

In announcing the new award, the editors of Golf Inc. wrote, "With more than four decades of golf course design excellence, approximately 250 completed courses and countless accolades for the quality of his work, Robert Trent Jones Jr. is eminently qualified to be the recipient of Golf Inc.'s first Lifetime Achievement Award. From his design debut working with his famous father Robert Trent Jones Sr. at Spyglass Hill to such recent designs as Chambers Bay and Lubker Golf Resort, Jones has created golfing canvases throughout the world. One of the first American architects to branch out to Europe and Asia, and a steward of the environment before it was fashionable, Jones is truly a legend in golf course design the world over."

Throughout his illustrious career Jones' courses have hosted tournaments on every major golf tour and won hundreds of awards, including 25 Best New Course Awards from Golf Digest, 31 courses included among Golf Digest's Best Courses (including the #1 course in 10 nations and 24 courses in the top ten), and nine courses listed among GOLF Magazine's top 100 courses in the US. Among his best-known works are The Prince Course at Princeville Resort on Kauai and two courses at Wailea in Hawaii; Sugarloaf Golf Club, in Maine; The Links at Spanish Bay, in California; Le Meridien Moscow Country Club in Russia; Cabo Real Golf Course in Mexico and Spring City Golf and Lake Resort in China.

In addition to his work as a golf course architect, Jones is well-known for his speaking and writing, which encompasses work as varied as a book (Golf by Design); articles in a wide variety of publications; and volumes of poetry, including a quartet of poems entitled American Festivals that was set to music and performed by a full symphony orchestra and oratorical chorus. Jones is widely sought as a presenter for his ability to speak eloquently and range widely on topics both in and out of golf. His charitable work includes serving on the board of Refugees International and supporting humanitarian causes throughout the world.

Jones will accept Golf Inc.'s Lifetime Achievement Award and deliver the keynote speech at the Golf Inc. conference held in La Quinta, California September 14-16.
